Introduction

I am happy to announce that after a hiatus, I am once again offering my services as a vintage poster restorer.

I do touch up, inpainting and image replacement on linen backed posters using archival reversible materials.  With over 15 years of experience, I have honed my skills to be able to guarantee accurate color matching and meticulous attention to detail.

My approach to poster restoring is to minimize the distractions that prevent the viewer from enjoying the image on the poster while doing as little to it as possible. Distractions such as cracks are carefully color matched to the surrounding area using water soluble, reversible materials. Areas of missing image will be carefully reconstructed to match the color and style of the poster based on the best information available.  Marks are gently removed with minimal invasiveness. Stains are camouflaged and made less noticeable or, if they are dark, painted over with reversible gouache as a last resort.
