Landscapes
Through these landscapes, I have created symbolic depictions of the state of our world today, a result of the way we have inhabited the earth, both in relation to the environment as well as to one another. These images, in various ways, show a state of crisis; imbalance, separation, dislocation, misdirection. They also show earth’s inherent beauty and the desire and need to achieve peace, unity and equilibrium.
I explore and use pairs of opposites to show the pervasiveness of polarity and how they manifest and affect our lives. How do we handle them? How can we reconcile them? Do we even recognize them as two sides of the same coin to begin with? These ideas and questions underlie these paintings and watercolors.
